Delaware, Ohio

In March 1994, an article in the Wall Street Journal ranked Delaware 14th out of 20 of the fastest-growing, wealthiest, and most educated areas of the country. Based on 1997 U.S. Census Bureau estimates, Delaware county is the fastest growing county in the state of Ohio with a growth rate of 30.6 percent, and consistently maintains one of the lowest unemployment rates in the state.

As the county seat of Delaware County, the city of Delaware offers the best of many worlds: the tree-lined streets and friendly faces of a small college town, the rural beauty of the surrounding countryside, and the urban excitement of nearby Columbus which is less than 30 minutes away.

But like the fine racing Standardbreds in the world-famous "Little Brown Jug," Delaware has kept its head while quickening the pace. Citizens, community leaders, and consultants are working together to guide the development of new residential areas and expanded community services, while maintaining Delaware's distinctive character.
